Frequently Asked Questions
How is age calculated?
Age is calculated by finding the difference between your birth date and the current date. The calculator counts full years, then remaining months, then remaining days. For example, if you were born on January 15, 2000, and today is March 20, 2025, you are 25 years, 2 months, and 5 days old. Leap years are automatically accounted for in the calculation.
Why does my age change by the second?
The age calculator updates in real-time every second to show your age down to the second. While we typically measure age in years, you are technically getting older every second. The calculator shows this precision by displaying hours, minutes, and seconds in addition to years, months, and days. This gives you a more exact measurement of your lifetime.
What if I was born on February 29 (leap day)?
If you were born on February 29 during a leap year, your birthday technically only occurs every 4 years. For age calculation purposes, your birthday is considered March 1 in non-leap years. The calculator will show your next actual February 29 birthday in the next leap year. Leap years occur every 4 years (except century years not divisible by 400).
How many days old am I?
The calculator shows your total age in days by multiplying years by 365.25 (accounting for leap years) and adding all remaining days. For example, if you are 25 years old, you are approximately 9,131 days old (25 × 365.25). The exact number depends on how many leap years occurred during your lifetime. Each leap year adds one extra day.
What day of the week was I born on?
The calculator determines what day of the week you were born (Monday, Tuesday, etc.) by checking the calendar for your birth date. This is calculated using date algorithms that account for the cyclical pattern of days and leap years. Knowing your birth day can be interesting for astrology, numerology, or just as a fun fact about yourself.
